On the way GOOGLE DRIVE...go for it

Google Drive—a place where you can create, share, collaborate, and keep all of your stuff. Whether you’re working with a friend on a joint research project, planning a wedding with your fiancé or tracking a budget with roommates, you can do it in Drive. You can upload and access all of your files, including videos, photos, Google Docs, PDFs and beyond.
With Google Drive, you can:
  • Create and collaborate. Google Docs is built right into Google Drive, so you can work with others in real time on documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Once you choose to share content with others, you can add and reply to comments on anything (PDF, image, video file, etc.) and receive notifications when other people comment on shared items.
  • Store everything safely and access it anywhere (especially while on the go). All your stuff is just... there. You can access your stuff from anywhere—on the web, in your home, at the office, while running errands and from all of your devices. You can install Drive on your Mac or PC and can download the Drive app to your Android phone or tablet. We’re also working hard on a Drive app for your iOS devices. And regardless of platform, blind users can access Drive with a screen reader.
  • Search everything. Search by keyword and filter by file type, owner and more. Drive can even recognize text in scanned documents using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. Let’s say you upload a scanned image of an old newspaper clipping. You can search for a word from the text of the actual article. We also use image recognition so that if you drag and drop photos from your Grand Canyon trip into Drive, you can later search for [grand canyon] and photos of its gorges should pop up. This technology is still in its early stages, and we expect it to get better over time.
You can get started with 5GB of storage for free—that’s enough to store the high-res photos of your trip to the Mt. Everest, scanned copies of your grandparents’ love letters or a career’s worth of business proposals, and still have space for the novel you’re working on. You can choose to upgrade to 25GB for $2.49/month, 100GB for $4.99/month or even 1TB for $49.99/month. When you upgrade to a paid account, your Gmail account storage will also expand to 25GB.

Drive is built to work seamlessly with your overall Google experience. You can attach photos from Drive to posts in Google+, and soon you’ll be able to attach stuff from Drive directly to emails in Gmail. Drive is also an open platform, so we’re working with many third-party developers so you can do things like send faxesedit videos andcreate website mockups directly from Drive. To install these apps, visit the Chrome Web Store—and look out for even more useful apps in the future.

This is just the beginning for Google Drive; there’s a lot more to come.

Get started with Drive today at drive.google.com/start

Windows8 metered Connection Feature

Windows 8 where there are many features available for pc. Airplane mode and the metered connections are two of the major features available. These two options are newly added to network connections in Windows 8.
To access the Airplane mode, click on the network icon on the taskbar turn on Airplane Mode which is similar to the Airplane mode in mobile phones, which prevent any type of connections including Wi-Fi, cellular connections, calls etc. Your apps will still work, but won’t be able to connect to internet.

The second option available in network settings is the Metered connection. If you are on a limited data plan or a 3G network where the data prices are high, you can set this network as metered connection. Just right click on the network and select the option. Setting this option will limit the downloads and uploads from Windows 8 there by reducing the data usage.

You can also set Windows not to download any updates when on metered connection. This menu can be accessed from Devices in the Start screen control panel.

How to Stop Users From Installing Google Chrome

Here's how you can create the Block Google Chrome software restriction policy for your Vista or XP machines:
  1. Open the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC).
  2. Right-click your domain and choose the Create a GPO in this domain, and link it here option.
  3. Name the Group Policy Object (GPO) Block Google Chrome and click OK.
  4. Right-click the policy you just created and click Edit.
  5. Navigate to the User Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Software Restriction Policies folder.
  6. Right-click Software Restriction Policies and select New Software Restriction Policies.
  7. Right click Additional Rules and choose New Path Rule.
  8. In the Path field, type chromesetup.exe.
  9. In the Security level drop-down box, choose Disallowed and click OK.
  10. Repeat steps 7 through 9 for the chrome.exe and gears-chrome-opt.msi files.
  11. Repeat steps 7 through 9 for the path C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe for Vista machines or C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe for XP machines. You should include this rule in case some of your users have already installed the browser. After you implement the GPO and the Group Policy settings refresh on those users' local machines, they'll no longer be able to successfully run Google Chrome.
  12. Open a command-prompt window and run the command
    gpupdate /force
    to apply the new rules.
  13. Run the command
    gpresult /R
in Vista SP1 or the command
    gpresult
in XP and Vista (pre-SP1) to verify that the newly created GPO has successfully been applied.
  14. As a final test, attempt to run the installer from the Google Chrome website. If the policy is successful, you should see the error that Figure1 shows.

With the Block Google Chrome software restriction policy, you can stop users from installing and using Google's new web browser without IT's consent. (Note that if you want some users to be able to install and run the browser, you can filter the GPO so that it won't affect them.) You can even adapt these steps to block other applications that install to user-accessible areas in the OS and registry.

Hiding the Ribbon in Windows8

Windows 8 itself is a huge change and a revolutionary operating system ever.
Because of its new and stylish features. And today I'm going to talk about one of its feature " RIBBON "

Being good sometime you may feel, taking more space on your screen. So here is a trick to hide Ribbon by default

1. Press windows key + R, type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
2. Expand the Computer Configuration &gt > Administrative Templates &gt > Windows Components &gt > Windows Explorer section of the tree.
3. Double-click "Start Windows Explorer with the Ribbon minimized , set the value to Enabled and click OK.
4. Now the ribbon won't be displayed by default. Click the Down arrow to the left of the Help icon or press ctrl+F1 to get it back.

Add Hibernate and sleep option in Windows8

By default Hibernate or Sleep won't appear in the Windows 8 shutdown dialogs, however you may be able to restore them.
Launch the Power Options applet (powercfg.cpl) and click "Choose what the power buttons do" in the left-hand pane.
If you see a "Change settings that are current unavailable" link, then click it, check the Sleep and Hibernate options, click Save Changes, and the new options should now appear in your shutdown dialogs.

How To Add Recycle Bin to “My Computer”

Have you ever wanted to add the Recycle Bin to your My Computer screen? Yeah, it’s probably not the most common request, but here’s how to do it anyway with a simple registry hack.
Manual Registry Tweak to Add Recycle Bin
Open up regedit.exe through the start menu search or run box, and then browse down to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace
Now that you’re there, you’ll need to right-click and create a new key…
Name the key with the following text:
{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
Now you should be able to hit F5 on your My Computer screen, or close it and re-open.

Remove "Shortcut" Text From New Shortcuts

One of the irritating thing about Windows is the " -shortcut " text that is placed after the name of newly created shortcut link. And we must remove it manually which is more irritating. Now you need not to worry because here's a trick that removes your  " -shortcut " text automatically.
Notice the ” – Shortcut” added to my "CV Keshav Gyawali" PDF file.

Manual Registry Hack
Open up regedit.exe through the start menu search box or type "regedit" in run command box, and then browse down to the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

On the right-hand side you’ll find a key that is just called “link”, with a default value of 1e 00 00 00. Open this key up and change the 1e to 00 instead, leaving you with 00 00 00 00.
You’ll have to log off and then back on to make this change take effect. Please note that this won’t affect existing shortcuts, only shortcuts that you create from now on.
To change the setting back, just change back to the 1e value, log off and back on.
